I Keep Doing the Accidental Patriotic Thing.

What is she doing with her arm, you ask? We'll never know...

Vest: Thistlepearl
Sweater: Thrifted
Shorts: Thrifted
Flats: Thrifted

This is what I wore to dinner and a going away party of sorts on Thursday night. I forgot to get detail shots, but I have provided you with a pretty spectacular (severe sarcasm) bathroom photo to help with that. Also, there's a pretty nice shot of the vest on instagram (@leahjgee). Normally I wouldn't care, but the beading on this thing is so pretty. Not to mention the scalloped hem. Must see : ).

Remember when I said the thing about occasionally giving in to new items cause youjusgottahave'em in the last post? This vest was one of those times. Only, I was able to convince Matt that it would make a great, completely appropriate Valentine's Day gift, so I didn't have to actually shell out for it. Isn't it great when that happens?

I found these shorts at The Wardrobe- this thrift store that's a block away from by apartment. They're the perfect high-waisted pair, and I can't believe the luck I've been having at that place lately. Thrift gods showin' your girl some big love lately, y'all.

What exciting things have we been up to this weekend? I'm about to dive headfirst into my sourcing class...the final is tomorrow! At 7:30AM! Ahem, 7:30 AM! Shoot me.

Wish me luck!

Only You...

Shirt: Thrifted
Striped Shirt: Yard Sale-ed?
Skirt: Thrifted
Sandals: Kimchi Blue
Hat: Thrifted

There's something going on with this hat in the first couple photos that is unfortunately reminiscent of Smokey the Bear. My uncharacteristically large head forced the top to go against its instinct and pop out? Whatevs, guys. My big head is beautiful : ).

I just realized almost this entire outfit is thrifted! Yay me! I really try my best to exclusively buy thrifted/vintage/secondhand items, as it's a)cheaper b)way better for the environment. It also allows for more creativity, I think. But that's just my humble opinion.
The only real exception to this rule of mine, however, is for footwear. I've decided that this is the year I become an adult and start buying quality (read: more expensive) shoes. I'm tired of having to buy a new pair of sandals, boots, etc. every year simply because the ones I purchased previously were crap and I should've known better but UO was having a huge sale and I couldn't take my eyes off them and the cute shopboy with the eyes said he liked them. I mean, that didn't happen to me. (.....)
Also, sometimes you're internet drooling window shopping and you can't help but fall head over heels for something new. But typically I'm too broke for new, so it works out! : )

I'm sorry all you've been getting is outfit posts! I truly intend for this to be much more, it's just that I'm juggling quite a lot at the moment, so it's hard to sit down and brainstorm some segments. If you stick with me, I promise it'll be worthwhile.

Any plans for Cinco de Mayo?

Shirt: Thrifted
Tank: Thrifted
Shorts: UO

Well guys, it's official. The universe does not want me to complete this DIY I have in mind. I cannot find the last supply anywhere. Except China. I can order it from China. I'll probably need to give up for the time being, and settle for something feasible. Stay tuned!

The tie on this green blouse brings me back to my girl scout days. Even though, you know, we never wore our uniforms. I suppose it just reminds me of what the stereotypical girl scout is supposed to look like. Case in point:

Also, am I the only one who completely forgot about Shelley Long?

Anyway, as you may have noticed, I did a little playing around with the design last night. It's clean and simple- which is the opposite of my outfits, but something I think I like for my blog. It feels like me...for now : ). What do you think?

Also, I ran across this lookbook from Summerland on two separate occasions yesterday; once by accident and once while searching for haircut inspiration. I realize I'm rather late on this, but I decided it was the universe's (she's being quite meddlesome lately...) way of telling me I needed to share it with y'all.

These are just my favorite photos from the lookbook, but you can find the rest of them here. I'm so into this because a) I'm in love with her hair and b) there's something very ethereal and innocent about it all. The fact that I will not rest until every piece of this collection is in my closet doesn't hurt, either. Sigh. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

I'm off to give a presentation this morning! My marketing campaign for my eco-friendly designer (Leila Hafzi) is complete. Wish me luck!

Dress: Vintage
Shirt: Thrifted
Sweater: Vintage
Belt: Target?
Booties: Target

It's only now, after I've posted these pictures, that I realize how much I look like a giant, walking hotdog. Slathered in ketchup + mustard, of course.
I had actually considered pairing this dress with this teal cardigan I have, and wish now that I had gone with that instinct...can't say I'm in love with this combination. But oh well, this is what I honestly wore, so. Just top me off with some relish! You guys like relish, right?

This afternoon I'm going hunting for the third and final supply needed for my DIY. Wish me luck! I might even have enough spare time to do the project! God, I love Wednesdays.

Just for good measure, so you guys know I'm being productive out there, here's me barista-ing last night:

Super flattering lighting, no? Geez, I need to dye my hair again.

That's right- live in action, y'all. It's all for the new camera. You'll be able to see the ridiculousness that is my closet even clearer! You're holding your breath, I know.

Hopefully you get this impression without me saying anything, but the comments I get from you guys seriously make my day. Every time. Thank you so much for reading!

P.S.- Do you have instagram? Be my fwiend! @leahjgee.

I mean...
Do I really need to say anything?
She's certainly come a long way since Dawson's Creek. Though, let's be honest, she was way cute back then too, with some down-pat 90s style to boot.

Michelle, BE MY BFF.
Also, I might be a little in love with you. It won't be weird.
