Simple

I'm all about simplicity, lately...especially on my days off. Is it weird that I tend to dress up the most (and wear the most uncomfortable shoes) on days when I hardly get a minute to sit down? I suppose I'll chalk it up to having somewhat of a dress code to adhere to, now, and let my days off be filled with keds and ease. And spending too much money at the grocery store (cause that happens, like...a lot).

Also, I chopped my hair off, in case that hasn't been mentioned yet. Well, I'm off to will the hours away work until I can watch the Breaking Bad Finale! I'm making a cake just for the occasion...which may have a little something to do with my excitement about the viewing. Regardless: no spoilers, please! See y'all around!

Easy Breezy

These were taken at the Soda City Farmer's Market here in Columbia about 3 weeks ago. Matt and I had been wanting to visit the market ever since we'd moved here, but hadn't yet made it. So, a few days after I found out I got a job (I got a job, by the way!), we rushed to visit the market before I had to work. We will definitely be going back sometime, because we didn't get near enough time to visit all of the booths! The market here is much larger than the one we frequented in Missouri, and I can't wait to explore it more! I mean, we can get virtually all of our produce for the week there. Win!

The New Classics

First off, I want to thank Lauren from Tastes Like Love for featuring me in her Fancy Folk series today. I had fun with the questions and her blog is a gem! Go check it out!

The striped shirt has been a classic since the beginning of time, I think. It's minimalist, fresh, easy, and just...cool. However, if you have a million striped things in your closet like I do, wearing them solo can get a little stale. How do we fix this? Pair it with something bold, like a floral, in the same palette. I don't know about you, but the pairing has become so innate and comfortable with me that it's almost as much of a staple as denim or chambray with stripes. To the new classics (this is where we "cheers" each other)!

A Little Mod

I pretty much built this outfit around my hair. Typically, I like the volume, if any, below my jawline. But, every once in a while, I'll add a little tease/hairspray/volume to the mix- it adds just enough of a nod to the 60s (favorite era!). Add a simple, boxy top and a plum lip to the picture and there's something a little mod happening.

Down By The River

In our continued quest to get to know our new city a bit better, Matt and I ventured down to the RiverWalk last week. It's a boardwalk/paved trail that runs alongside the Congaree River, and has some really pretty viewpoints to its name. If it was a bit closer to my house, I would definitely be doing my runs there.

I (purely accidentally) matched my top to the greenery surrounding the pathway. I love that everything is so lush here, but the mosquitoes that come with the lushness are a different story. I swear that they are mutant, robot mosquitoes, programmed to attack me as much as possible. Oh well...it'll be pants season soon, yes? I've got my fingers crossed.

Eastern

Went with this title more to illustrate the fact that I have bamboo growing naturally (I think?) in my backyard rather than the new timezone I now call my own. Maybe that pesky one hour addition is to blame for my consistent sleeping-in problem...or maybe it's that fifth-time's-a-charm snooze press. Either way, it's an issue. What's your secret to getting out of bed?

Newness & Lack Of

I've reached that point where I hate everything in my closet, and I don't know how to overcome this frustration because I'm #brokefolk...time to get (real) creative, I suppose! What do y'all do (other than shop) when this feeling hits? Desperately needing some inspiration right now.

Anyway, this is what I wore to meet some new friends for coffee earlier this week. One of my favorite things to do in a new place is explore the local coffee spots, and it's even better when you're doing it with some good company.

During said visit, Matt and I realized that it was our one month anniversary, which gave us an excuse to actually go get the margaritas we'd been craving all day. Sometimes life does throw you a bone ; ).

Gatsby

It's Sunday night as I write this and I seem to be fighting off some sort of upper respiratory/bronchial thing which is currently rendering my gun-ho blogging efforts defective and I have both a warm shower and bed calling my name so I will greet you and leave you with this: what I wore to see The Great Gatsby last weekend (note the drop waist, long pendant, and the...20s wallpaper print blazer? Yes, I'll go with that.) Please also note the new sandals I'll be wearing from now 'til boots season.
