Guest Post: Bear and Twine

Hey y'all! Today, I've got one of my internet BFFs (you know that's a thing) ,Marlen, here to share a little bit about her vintage store, Bear and Twine. Listen up, 'cause believe me- you will want everything she's selling.

photo 20419ecd-8b05-4a05-be7f-afa144263acb_zps8a53db31.jpgHello, folks! My name is Marlen and I'm the girl behind the little vintage shop, Bear and Twine!

You know that moment when you're standing in front of your closet with PJs on, and, thumbing the clothes on the hangers, you think "I have absolutely nothing to wear." There's a reason for that- you're not sure what mood you're in just yet.

I believe that clothes aren't just sweaters and dresses you slip into, but they're dispositions.  They help echo what you're feeling inside and get the ball rolling on how the day will go. Your date dress is a little different from your coffee date dress, and your brunch blazer is a world apart from your lunch meetup sweater, all because each one makes you into a different character.

And that's why I started  Bear and Twine. I don't sell clothes, but I sell stories. I help get you ready for your adventure, big or small, and help set the soundtrack to your day.  I have picnics, summer concerts, charming dates, and boardwalk strolls in the forms of tea-length skirts and floral blazers. I have silly sleepovers with friends, long afternoon conversations on porch swings, and urgent ice cream runs in the shape of sweaters and bermuda shorts. And each one of them will help you act out the version of you you want to be that day!

So I hope you pop on over to my store and check out exactly what I have waiting for ya :)

And don't forget to follow along on Bear and Twine's Facebook and Twitter for fun style content and special coupon codes!

Thanks Marlen! And if I had any income flow that was not directed toward my upcoming nuptials/moving, it would be headed your way- BALEE DAT.

Guest Post Recap

We Live Upstairs Guest Post Recap Outift

These are the photos I shared last week on Marlen's blog for our guest post exchange. In case you didn't make it over there to check it out (shame on you), I thought I'd share them here as well. The challenge was to take a summer item and transition it to fall; I chose my favorite vest. Instead of wearing it solo (with bottoms of course) like I do in the Summer, I layered it over a button-down and a dress worn as a skirt. And as I said in the guest post, I highly encourage everyone to layer their dresses creatively this fall/winter! It's a super easy way to stay warm!

Guest Post by Marlen of Messages on a Napkin

Remember yesterday when I said I had a special post lined up for today? My friend Marlen (also known as the queen of layering) has agreed to deliver some expert advice on transitioning summer pieces to fall. Class in session!

Hello all! My name is Marlen (like the Monroe and not the fish) and I blog over at Messages on a Napkin.  Seeing how the cooler weather is barging in on us and we're not ready to put away our meadow dresses or sparkly tops, Leah and I thought it would be fun to show you how we like to transition our summer pieces into fall.

The dress I chose is one of my summer favorites- it's everything a dress should be. Its skirt flounces in breezes, it's kissed with flowers, and turns sheer in warm summer sunlight.  Which is the polar opposite of what you'd want when leaves are falling and crunching under your boots. So to stretch some more time out of it, I added some trusty layers.

A dark floppy hat will shield crisp winds, a baggy, over-sized vest adds some heavy layers, and tights with booties add those fall touches.

And just like that you have some more quality time with your summer favorites!  Hope this gave you some ideas ;)
