Tomboy

We Live Upstairs Tomboy Outfit
After waking at 7am on a Sunday for my occasional barista duties, I headed home and into the backyard to stand in frolic in the last bits of the snow remaining from Christmas; clothed, of course, in the masculine elements of a blazer and bowtie. While I do  sporadically remember to pack my femininity in my bag for the day, I do believe that tomboyish-ness is in muh blood. What can I say? I love a pleated pant and a collar. If you have them, what are your tomboy essentials?

Zissou Forever

We Live Upstairs Zissou Forever Outfit
Favorite Wes Anderson movie, hands down. I usually receive a pair of arched eyebrows or a crinkled nose when people hear that, but what can I say? The submarine scene is enough in itself; I can't help but pay homage.

New Couch!

We Live Upstairs New Couch Photo

Matt has several "odd" jobs. He works in the homes of two old ladies and one older couple doing handiwork, housework, cooking, etc. (adorable, right?). The older couple he works for recently decided they're moving to Minnesota to be closer to their children and grandchildren, and they are cleaning out their furniture supply to get ready for their big trek. And because this couple happens to be so generous, we inherited this lovely floral sleeper couch! I'm head over heels <3.

Mint, White, and Blue

We Live Upstairs Mint White and Blue Outfit

These photos were taken outside the gorgeous entryway of the Southeast Missourian (newspaper) offices in Cape Girardeau. I passed by this building a million times while Matt and were still living there, but never indulged in the urge to examine it more closely. As you'll see, there's a mural on one of the outside walls- the positioning of which Matt cleverly took advantage of when snapping these : ). I love seeing public art in smaller towns; probably because the teeny town I grew up in hardly had any at all. It's a nice reminder that you can find creative folks anywhere if you look hard enough.

On a sartorial note, (that's what you came for, right?) I picked up this fantastic coat (Gap, brand new) this very day from my favorite thrift shop in Cape. I loved it so much I tossed the coat I had been wearing right into the trunk and slipped this baby on. I think the mint & camel bring each other out quite nicely.
