October Sponsorship/Big Tree, Take Two

We Live Upstairs October sponsorship

First things first: I'm now accepting sponsors for the month of October! If you'd like to trade ads with me, drop me an email and we can talk banner size, duration, etc. I'd love to work with some like-minded bloggers, so don't be shy!

And now, back to the outfit post.

These photos were hurriedly snapped at Big Tree last weekend, when Matt and I took my mother out to see the wonder-oak. She was just as impressed as I upon seeing the massive beauty for the first time, and we were equally as camera-happy the second time. There are things in life you can never get enough of; natural wonders are certainly up there for me.

I'm now wishing I had more sleeveless shift dresses in my closet- the layering options for fall/winter are endless! Perhaps I'll attempt to snag up some more during any remaining end-of-summer sales I come across. What are your go-to layered items for the colder months? I'd love some new inspiration!

Drive-By Peaches + Big Tree (Very image heavy!)

Description of Photo

During our stint as a homeless couple (the weekend we stayed at a friend's house between leases), Matt and I decided to make use of our simultaneous down time by driving out to the neighboring town of McBaine to visit the famous, massive Burr Oak tree, locally known + loved as "Big Tree."

On our way out to the giant, we happened upon a roadside produce stand that we just couldn't pass up. The man who ran the stand was so sweet, and had several charming stories about his grandson ready and waiting for us. I'm telling you, this little outing of ours couldn't have been any more quaint. Enjoy!

Though it's moniker is primitive at best, this tree really is a beauty. It's surrounded by fields of nothing for miles, which allows any onlooker to really appreciate its size (91 inches in diameter; one of the largest Burr Oaks in the country!).

I have to say, driving out to the middle of nowhere with the windows down, listening to Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, eating a peach just acquired at a roadside stand almost completely made up for any hassles we experienced while moving. It was that special.

Departure

Hey friends! Today is a bittersweet day around these parts; Matt's leaving for his great, Greek adventure, but that means I won't get to see him for a whole month. Let the calendar crossing-off begin! Just kidding.

Anyway, here are some photos from last Sunday's Art at the Park festival in Columbia. We got to spend some time looking at the booths of local artisans, as well as sampling some lesser known, local (ish) food vendors: see smoothie below.

It's more awkward doing outfit photos in public than I originally presumed.

I'm way cute.

Um, raise your hand if you clearly need to start making more of an effort with your hair! My hand is sky high. Sheesh, things are getting crazy. Growing out takes so long.

Any neat plans for the weekend? Share!
