Flock Together

 photo IMG_7778.jpg

Hey y'all! Though I'm not quite yet back in the full swing of blogging after the whirlwind that was wedding week, I am over on Flock Together today giving stripe advice (ish). I'm told that my wedding photos should be ready next week sometime, and you can bet that I will be sharing them ASAP. See you around!

Red and Plaid and Stripes All Over

We Live Upstairs Red and Plaid and Stripes All Over Outfit

I have been all over some stripe mixing lately. I haven't been able to photograph every ensemble containing them, but trust; there've been a lot. I've noticed that I tend to gravitate toward stripe on stripe or stripe on plaid. And, lucky for me, these two happened to be getting chummy near each other in my ever-crowded closet; convenient since I've been furrowing my brow over what to pair with this skirt for a month or two. Lesson learned: sometimes the closet gods lead you right where you need to go.

Well, I'm off to enjoy some great company, pizza, and drinks for my birthday tonight (my actual DOB isn't until the 13th), and I hope you get to do the same (not necessarily in honor of my birthday, but just because you have great friends who also like pizza. However, if you'd like to raise a glass to my 23rd year, I wouldn't be mad at that ; ))!
See you Monday!

P.S.- If you haven't noticed, I'm more than mildly obsessed with borders, lines, shapes, and cut-outs right now. Indulge me for the moment, k? : )

Hometown Hero

We Live Upstairs Hometown Hero Outfit

First, I want to say thankyousomuch for all of the sweet replies to my last post. You guys are the best and I'm very thankful to have such kind friends & readers.
Anyway:
I love being back in Cape Girardeau. Perhaps it's knowing that anytime I'm there, it's because of some holiday or another, which, in turn, means amazing food is on it's way to my stomach. Or, perhaps it's the comfort found in familiar restaurants and shops filled to the brim with memories. And of course, being around Matt's (and now my) amazing family only brings peace and satisfaction. Any way you slice it, I am one happy camper while I'm there.

After hitting up our favorite (and sincerely missed) thrift shop, we headed across the street to the junior high school to explore and take outfit photos. However, after realizing that the bleachers we were standing on were little more than rickety wooden planks laying atop (hardly screwed into) a pole structure, we promptly bolted and headed home for leftovers.

I apologize for my absence last week, but it just felt right to take some time and bask in the high I was am on. Still smiling.
See you tomorrow! : )

Well hello, there. It's been more than minute, and a very hot one (temperature, not length) at that. What can I say, except moving woes, internet setup lag, etc., etc., blah blah blah? I'm here now, and we all need to focus more on the present anyway, right? : )

These were taken on one of the last days at our old place, in the annex to this lumber yard down the street. It's not the most picturesque place, but it's where we take our dog to pooh this is real life, y'all. Speaking of real life, did you see my roots? A 'lil too real for the internet, perhaps.

Without going into too much detail, I've been experiencing several not-exactly-asked-for, rapid-fire changes in my life. But instead of looking at these things negatively, I've decided I'm going to turn the extra time I have into passion for more creative endeavors. Translation: I hope to put more effort into this blog and really make it something special. I hope you all stick around! : )

How do you deal with unexpected changes in your life? My ritual almost always involves ice cream.
