Your Next BFF: Angela Chase

If you're like me, you didn't become aware of the 1994 classic, My So Called Life, until you were well past the age at which the resolutions to the freshman year dramas would have been of any use to you. Though I was unable to experience all that is this gem of a high school melodrama in its heyday, that only gave me more permission to be in love with it as an adult : ).

The cast. Our girl is dead center.

The show has everything you could ever want in a more serious, girl's POV version of Boy Meet's World: friends growing apart then together again, awkward can-I-touch-you-there moments, and the obligatory "I think my BFF is a psycho drug addict" episode. But my favorite part about this show, is the impeccable 90s fashion. And that's where this lil lady comes in:

Now, there's no question that all of the characters are exemplary sartorial examples of the 90s (Patty's mom jeans are one in a million), but with her terrible awesome granny florals, her mini dress + boots combos, and her ubiquitous employment of plaid, Angela is by far the queen of the 90s.

Okay, so she has championed the 90s staples, and that's all well and good, but I'll need more than a wardrobe master for my BFF. Why do I love her? She's exactly like I was at that stage in my life (only cooler), and I'm betting it's the same for most of you as well. She's totally confused, endearing, sweet, lovestruck, goofy, etc. Here's a peek:

See? Totes adorbs. I highly, highly recommend this show if you're in the market for, I don't know, perfect television. And you'll totally develop a major girl crush on Angela, just like I have. I might actually head over to netflix now to re-start the series. SO good!
