Shirt: Thrifted; Shorts: Audrey; Shoes: UO; Collar Necklace: Made it Myself!; Hat: Maurices 3-4 years ago?

Everything about what I'm wearing reminds me of a starburst or popsicle. Which, in this heat, sounds just magnificent.
This pair of shorts is one of the items I picked up on my mini shopping trip last weekend. They were quite the steal, but the deal was that the zipper was completely broken. I snagged them anyway and sewed snaps on instead! Now they're perfect : ) I will say, all this time to myself lately has turned me into quite the crafty bee. Not complaining!

And I whipped up this collar necklace using the DIY from Refinery 29. I made some variations, of course, but I think it turned out pretty well; especially considering I used the leather from an old handbag that bit the dust! I can't wait to make more in all sorts of colors and fabrics! I'm planning on doing a few posts about all the goodies I've made the past couple of weeks, but I'm waiting on the return of my camera boy ; )

Well, I'm off to enjoy a weekend visit from my friend Daniel! There'll be reminiscing and laughter a-plenty. Do y'all have anything neat planned?

I think I may be currently going through the "ILOVEPINKANDPURPLEFOREVERNOTHINGBETTER" phase that I skipped when I was little; I was big into blue and doing "boy" things with my male cousins. The things I purchased while shopping this past weekend were both extremely feminine pieces. And yes, one was pink, and one was purple. I'm sure it's a phase and I'll be back to my lace up boots and sleeveless tees in no time.

Do you guys get into modes where you wear very similar (or the same, as is my case sometimes : /) things for a week or two at a time? I do it a lot with florals; also extremely feminine. What's happening to me?!

I Don't Blame You, Winnie Cooper.

If you've been reading along, you know that I've had a lot of free time on my hands the past couple of weeks; what with my significant other being overseas and all. While this time was not exactly requested, it has allowed me to catch up on some quality T.V. time. Er, Netflix time. And what I've discovered by being a lazy, couch-ridden mess, is that I'm head over heels for the The Wonder Years. Specifically, for Kevin Arnold. Even more specifically, for Kevin Arnold's wardrobe choices.

The crisp button downs, brown denim, and that varsity jacket? Rolled cuffs, striped polos, and denim jacket? Baseball tees?! C'mon. Melt my heart, why don'tchya. Either little Kevin Arnold was sartorially wise beyond his years, or his mom (what up Mrs. Arnold!) really knew the business. At 12 and 13, Kevin was dressing the way hip, twentysomething studs do currently; but of course that has a lot to do with the cyclicality of fashion. Still, I can't help but hold him in such esteem. Maybe it's that eyebrow thing he does.

*I found all these images through Google, but forgot to link them. If anyone would like credit, just holler.

Hey friends! This is what I wore for a Saturday to myself : ). I was supposed to head to St. Louis with a friend to do some shopping, but since that didn't work out, I did a little bit downtown on my own. I only walked away with a few things, but I got some crazy deals on what I did get! Hopefully some of what I got will make it on here soon.

Do you guys feel more comfortable going shopping my yourselves or with friends? I go back and forth, so I'm interested in what you guys have to say. Go!

The Blues, Again. Only Different.

Well, hello again! It's been too long. I'd apologize for my inconsistency and utter lack of effort lately, but I'm sure you're more than tired of hearing about it. So instead, we'll skip that part and just kiss and make up. I'm sorry honey, it won't happen again (it probably will).

It's become ever-clear that a solid 25-30% of my wardrobe is blue. I've recently begun color-coding my closet in order to have some, well, order amongst the insanity that is my wardrobe. In doing this, I have become amazed at just how big a section "blue" is. This has brought about all sorts of internal questions: why am I so attracted to blue? What does blue say about a person? Why do I not remember purchasing half of this stuff? Do I buy clothes while sleepwalking? After pondering these and other deep inquiries, I've accepted my Smurfdom and have decided to embrace it.

Also, meet the best looking sandals I've ever owned.
'Til next time!

I'm Not Dead

Just...unmotivated. But mark my words, there will be a post tomorrow. I've posted about posting, so hopefully that will be enough to keep me accountable. Sorry, guys!

Will report back soon.

Woohoo! Two posts in a row! Look at me go! Don't hate. Lately, it's quite the feat.
Unfortunately, this dress is one of those that causes a rift between my significant other and myself. He despises it, while I think it's the perfect combination of my old lady aesthetic and something Stevie Nicks would don. So, being that he's away, I decided I'd give it some love.
Do you have any items that you love, but those close to you beg you to throw away? I wanna know!

You guys have been so sweet in trying to cheer me up! It really means a lot. Love you!

Shirt: Thrifted; Shorts: Thrifted but from UO; Shoes: Thrifted; Sunglasses: Vintage

Hey guys! How are you? I know I've been very absent the last several days, but I've been feeling pretty blue due to the absence of my boo. I haven't felt like doing much of anything except consuming lethal amounts of sugar and watching terrible movies/shows. But I think I may be crawling out of the pit, slowly but surely. Mixing some fun patterns together sure helps : )

This pair of sunglasses might be my favorite possession. By might, I mean definitely are. They're vintage Ray Ban-esuqe that Matt gave me as a gift! They needed a screw replaced, as they kept sliding all the way down my nose whenever I looked down, but now they are perfect. Well, they still have a crack under one of the lenses, but I don't count that.

Also: unfortunately, we're back to poor picture quality for the time being. Matt took my baby to Greece, but that means I'll have hopefully stunning photos to share upon his return!

How's your week going thus far? I'm already ready for the weekend because my BFF is coming for a visit! I can't wait!
Until next time!

Departure

Hey friends! Today is a bittersweet day around these parts; Matt's leaving for his great, Greek adventure, but that means I won't get to see him for a whole month. Let the calendar crossing-off begin! Just kidding.

Anyway, here are some photos from last Sunday's Art at the Park festival in Columbia. We got to spend some time looking at the booths of local artisans, as well as sampling some lesser known, local (ish) food vendors: see smoothie below.

I never thought I'd see myself in knee socks and ankle boots. In my head, the combination always seemed a bit off/odd. Maybe something to do with proportions? I'm a very exacting person: I like things to match and be orderly. Symmetry is good, but I can also be very devil-may-care when getting dressed. Well, this is just a paragraph of contradictions. My apologies.

What's new with you guys this week?

Girl Crush: Audrey Horne

Description of Photo

Do you know Twin Peaks? If not, no worries; I was relatively unaware of it until about a month ago, and up until then I'd only heard the name accompanied by the phrase "You have to watch it!" For background's sake, it's a David Lynch thriller that aired in 1990- unfortunately only lasting two seasons (doesn't it seem like the good ones are always cancelled first?) The show revolves around an insane murder in a small town in Washington; and while Audrey Horne (played by Sherilyn Fenn) isn't initially considered a female lead, she most definitely makes her way to center stage throughout the series.

So why do I love her? Because though she is surrounded by solid, yet sometimes questionable, small town 80s fashion, Audrey steps out as one of the most glamorous females I've ever seen on television. With her pencil + circle skirts, saddle shoes, and that beauty mark + red lip combo, she takes the uber feminine staples from the 50s and makes them look like they belong nowhere else than on the body of a sophisticated teen from the late 80s-90s.

Par Example:

My apologies for the lack of full length images; they were surprisingly difficult to find. But hopefully you get the picture?

There's no doubt that Audrey is quite the lady. If you don't believe me, you can check out this lookbook and this tumblr; both of which are dedicated to the impeccable taste of our young move-maker. If you get nothing else out of this but the idea that you need to watch this show (it's on Netflix!), I'll be a happy camper.
