Teal & Red

Wore this last weekend for a birthday party and then, as you can see, a Lola (my dog) party. Despite my attempts to procure another intriguing color combination for you all, she very typically stole the show, and I do not blame you for paying more attention to her; she does have that sweet bow tie, after all....
Also, I apologize for the grainy photos. Just focus on the floppy ears and let it happen.

Home of the Beanie

By now, it shouldn't be a secret that I tend to wear a beanie any chance I get- especially when it's so very difficult to get out of my warm bed in enough time to fix my hair properly before work. I realize it is redundant and perhaps a bit boring, but please humor me for now (as in, this post and the next one : )) as I blame the weather for this hair rut of mine.

In other news: stripes, polkas dots, and jeans...I think if I had to create my own uniform for everyday, this might be it.

Breakfast in a Hurry

Hey y'all! Today I wanted to share a super easy breakfast idea that I've been digging lately. Take a couple of large pretzel sticks, dip them in some peanut butter, and roll in flax seeds. I usually pair this with fruit of some kind, and with the carbs and protein involved, I feel full enough to make it til lunch. I realize this may not be up everyone's alley, but it's been fulfilling my need for crunch and gets the job done : ). See you tomorrow!

Field Wear

Please don't be fooled; I did not spend a day filling my lungs full of bitterly cold fresh air in Matt's both rustic and environmentally appropriate plaid, but rather spent this day filling my grocery cart (and thus, my cabinets) full of much needed/avoided sustenance...only to briefly stop by the park entrance once the sun began to set. Now, I'm not saying that we avoid food around here- that's the opposite of what happens. But we (I) avoid the grocery store like it's my job because, I've decided, my subconscious knows that each time I go, I end up handing over many more shares of my bank account stock than what I'd like. But really, what else is new when you're trying to save money?

Snow Day

There was absolutely no way I was taking my coat off for these photos. In my head, I'd had this dream-like spread full of lazily drifting snowflakes all planned out, and me showing of my clever (ha!) patterns, but after walking home from the coffee shop in the 10 degree weather, I'd almost had enough. Almost. Hopefully, though, you'll get the idea from the five seconds I kept my coat open.

Golden Roses

This is what I wore when Matt and I joined several of our friends to see Silver Linings Playbook. While the movie played its own part in helping me to forget about the dreariness outside, the richness of the colors in this outfit also lifted my spirits. Clothing is a way to express yourself (blah, blah, blah), yes, but it's also a useful tool when it comes to avoiding the harsh winter reality in front of you : ).



I have a short week this week, and am already practically looking the weekend in the face. Hope y'all are having a great week!

Accessorize the Dreary Away

Last weekend was easily the coldest weekend of the season, so far. So what do I do? Bare my midriff, of course. I love doing the opposite of what's expected, and this bit of skin along with my necklace-as-a-headband and my actual necklace allowed me to toe a line in just the way I like to. And, along with adding some rebellion to my life in some way, the whimsicality of the accessories I chose also aided me in pretending it's not gray and frigid outside all. the. time. What are your favorite ways to escape from reality winter?

Quick Hello

Key Lime Cranberry

I'm a big color palette person when it comes to clothing. I'll see an inspiring combination somewhere and interpret it my own way. But, more often than not, it's color rather than the shape or other individual elements of the clothing that strikes me and makes me feel something. Also, in case your weren't aware, I'm very much a food person; so when I find two items in my closet that resemble things I have in my refrigerator and they go well together, it's kind of a done deal : ).

Cream & White

I love playing with different shades of white; it's a sophisticated way of procuring acceptable results after fumbling around in my closet in the morning. But really, I love a monochromatic scheme in general; and while the pants I'm wearing are full of color rather than void of it, I do believe you and I both would prefer to see these thighs in something subtle, rather than ostentatious. I do, however, own a pair of white, high-waisted, denim shorts that I've worn a whole two times- so be prepared for that this summer. Hopefully the #mileaday works its magic.

In other news, I'd really like to start doing more DIYs again now that the holidays are over. Anything you'd like to see? 

Tomboy

After waking at 7am on a Sunday for my occasional barista duties, I headed home and into the backyard to stand in frolic in the last bits of the snow remaining from Christmas; clothed, of course, in the masculine elements of a blazer and bowtie. While I do  sporadically remember to pack my femininity in my bag for the day, I do believe that tomboyish-ness is in muh blood. What can I say? I love a pleated pant and a collar. If you have them, what are your tomboy essentials?
