Black Velvet

We Live Upstairs Black Velvet Outfit

Do you ever find an item you're really excited about, then change your clothes nearly immediately because you want to build an outfit around that new piece right away? That's what happened here. I found this Land's End (who knew?) floral button-down at a new-to-me thrift store, and changed as soon as I got home because I love it so much. Hypocritical of me, yes, but I couldn't say no to the cheeriness and on-point fit-- sue me. Sidenote: so glad to have found a thrift shop where Matt can find clothes! Does anyone else have trouble finding thrifted items for men, or is that just a Columbia thing?

Also, this dress is black velvet, if you can't tell, and I'm very excited about that.

    1. Yeah, I know- it only took forever to find! Weird thing is, the store we found carries mostly ladies clothes, but what they did have for dudes, Matt liked quite a few things!

  4. I run in and change as soon as I get a new package. Even if it is just to try on the new item with the clothes that are already in my closet and then put it away, I get such a thrill from doing this! I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of, especially with a floral button down that cute.

  5. You look so so classy.
And I ALWAYS have trouble finding guys clothes in thrift stores, especially since my boyfriend is a size small. I wish it were as fun for him to go to Goodwill as it is for me!

  7. I LOVE the dress and the new-to-you floral blouse! I just thrifted a ankle length all black velvet dress, and I am hoping to hem that little baby up to look just like this, hooray! The knee highs are the perfect addition!

    1. This dress actually started out at ankle length as well! But I've been searching for one for forever, so I knew I had to nab it up regardless.

  8. It is super hard to find guy's clothes at thrift stores! I think it's that most guys wear their clothes to shreds, so they don't donate them. At least this is what I surmised when I worked at a thrift store.

    1. That actually describes my boyfriend to a T. Won't get rid of something or trade it until it's falling apart.
