Just Because
*In the realm of all things Godfather, Parts I & II are tied for my favorite films of all time, but you should see the third to a) feel complete as a person and b) see what an awkward, pre-teen Sofia Coppola is like.

Bohemian for Bill
I've got this thing...this thing where I go to my neighborhood thrift store pretty much every week. Sometimes these ventures produce no results, and other times, this time, they produce wonderful floral maxi skirts that make you feel like a bohemian princess when you see Bill Callahan play at a nearby venue.
How's your week going?
P.S.- If you've got the time and wouldn't mind, would you vote (or "heart," as the case may be) for me here? Thanks! <3

Your Presence is Requested...
Since I've not gotten the official word as to whether or not GFC (google friend connect) is shutting down alongside google reader come July 1 (can anyone help me out with that?), I thought I'd invite you all to follow me and my nonsense through Bloglovin'- just in case. It's streamlined and user-friendly; will I see you there?
And in case anyone is wondering, this is a photo Matt took last summer while he was in Greece. Gawjuss.

Gatsby
It's Sunday night as I write this and I seem to be fighting off some sort of upper respiratory/bronchial thing which is currently rendering my gun-ho blogging efforts defective and I have both a warm shower and bed calling my name so I will greet you and leave you with this: what I wore to see The Great Gatsby last weekend (note the drop waist, long pendant, and the...20s wallpaper print blazer? Yes, I'll go with that.) Please also note the new sandals I'll be wearing from now 'til boots season.
Thank you for your time, goodnight and good luck.

Chartreuse
You may or may not recognize this particular combination of clothing from this post, but just bear with me as I use up the last little bits of my pile of winter photos. In hindsight, I wish I had chosen a top with a more flattering fit for the couple-y photos, but I still really like the color combination (who knew chartreuse goes with SO MANY things?). Also, we didn't want to wear anything that was "matchy" or otherwise not "us," and I think this outfit captures Winter Leah to a T.
Unlike last weekend, I really have no idea what's happening this weekend, but I will see y'all on Monday to report back! LG OUT (I'm cool).
Allllsssoo...

The Blues
Sorry about the poor quality here; I was being very lazy and did not want to go allllll the way outside (heavy sarcasm) to take photos. Hence, the sub-par-ness you see before you. Regardless, I really like monochrome and I really like the giant column of buttons down my front. I also really like boots with exposed socks. The end.
P.S.- If you have the time and wouldn't mind, could you visit this link and send a "heart" my way? I'd appreciate it! : )

Things I Spray Painted This Weekend
Introducing a new, weekly (jk...probably) segment about things I spray paint over the weekend. Above: priming many no-name hardbacks and golden jars.
"Leather Brown" baskets...further transformations coming soon.
Golden wicker desktop organizer to top our new (to us) mid-century piece from heaven.
Golden bugle beads and spike necklaces. I fully made the first one and half made the second. Until next time!

Stripes & Basics
This title is sort of redundant because who doesn't consider a b&w striped tee a basic nowadays? Though I suppose the baseball hem does add a little something and red, white, and blue striped varsity bombers are less common, hence the extra mention. BRB guys- just having debates with myself.
Something not redundant (and also shown here) is Matt and I's first (and last) visit to the neighboring town of Moberly. We went to a deliver a desk that we sold, but stayed for the desolate downtown streets and plethora of for-lease,rent,sale storefronts (?). It was an unfulfilling exploration expedition with exposed brick walls a-plenty, and so here we are. You got me once again, small-town Missouri.
I spent almost the entire weekend with a hot glue gun, can of spray paint, and wire cutters in my hands (not at the same time), which means I'll have plenty of DIYs for you in the near future. In the meantime, enjoy your week!
P.S.- If you like what you see here, would you care to visit this link and throw a "heart" my way? I love you.

Lavender & Navy
What's that, an outfit post on my own blog? Is the world ending, did the apocalypse happen? No, I'm just slowly, finally getting to the digital mounds of photos still on my camera.
I wore some version of this while we were visiting 'ol Carolina (I sincerely hope some of the accent rubs off on me in the three years that we'll be there), but we were a little busy being wined, dined, and touristy to take photos : ). Thus, I re-created the ensemble for your (immense) viewing pleasure on a sunny Saturday a few weeks ago.
The shirt is actually a dress; TRICKED YOU.
Have a great weekend! There will be lots of wedding related crafting around here. Help me?

Our DIY Wedding Invitations
When I began searching through all of the magnificently curated paper goods on Etsy for just the right wedding invitations (I know you know what I'm talkin' about), I started noticing a trend: they're expensive. This was also during a time when I was beginning to feel a bit more confident in my Photoshop skills, so I thought, "Why not make them myself?" I made our save-the-dates and I was pleased with how those turned out, and I knew that no one else would know the aesthetic I was going for quite like me, so I went for it. What you see before you is hours of work, too many hand cramps to count, and a ton of fun for me (I geek out at design & paper stuff really easily). With that in mind, be nice : ).
I didn't want to share any that had real addresses on them, but who wouldn't want her at their wedding anyway?
I drew the laurel wreaths on all of the envelopes by hand throughout several days and one re-watch of Freaks and Geeks.
The invitation was printed on watercolor paper. After they were printed, I painted them and then layered the stamps on top of the dried paint.
We also included an accommodations list for our out-of-town-ers, but we'd used them all up by the time I got around to taking pictures.
It doesn't take an eagle eye to see that they're not perfect, but I kind of love that they're all a little different. In the end, I'm glad I took this plunge: we saved a ton of money, I learned even more about Photoshop, and I got to have complete creative control. Not to mention, I got to make something special for the people I love the most. Yay, DIY!
