Shirt: Vintage; Shorts: Thrifted; Socks: Walmart; Shoes: Target; Necklace: No idea. A mish mash of charm + chain(s)

I don't know if you can tell in these pictures, but I'm totally repping the late 80s/early 90s with a high side-pony. I dunno...with the glasses my rapidly declining eyesight is forcing me to don more and more often lately, paired with the socks and open shoes, it felt just geeky enough to work.

I found these shorts in the "Teen" section at The Wardrobe (shocked, right?), but they actually ended up working out for me! I love the lace detail on the border of the pockets- it adds that "teen" element the elderly volunteers at the thrift shop were so quick to pick up on. It just goes to show you, don't discount the keen eyes of your grandmas + grandpas...they've still got it.

Have you guys picked up any sartorial tips/trends from those that receive the ever-covetable senior discount? Share time!

Flashin' Lights

On Sunday night, Matt and I decided to see what came of nighttime outfit photos, as we weren't able to take any during the day. I'll preface the photos by saying that flash is not my favorite in almost every situation, but I wanted to give it a go. Here are the results of our experiment:

Shirt: Thrifted; Skirt: Vintage; Shoes: tuto

This skirt is one of my favorite thrifted finds. I picked it up in Cape Girardeau, intending to sell it once back in Columbia; but once I got a closer look at it, I fell in love and vowed to squeeze into it one day. Lo and behold, it fits now! If, you know, I wear it at my rib cage ; ).

I probably won't be doing the flash again, unless out of necessity; as was the case here. But it was fun to try it out! What do you think? Any tips for nighttime photography or exposure settings?

Until next time! Thanks for reading my nonsense!

A La Mode For Life

We Love Upstairs A La Mode For Life Outfit

This weekend included lots of the following: family, apple pie, ice cream, and photos (if I told you or provided evidence of just how much ice cream was consumed, you'd probably slap me in the face right this instant). Also, I miiight've had apple pie a la mode for breakfast yesterday morning. Still working on the how-I-will-fit-back-into-my-swimsuit plan. Anyway, here's what I wore on Saturday:

Just after Matt pointed out the walk-up ice cream stand. Cue the Scooby-Doo "whhaaaa??" noise.

And We're Off!

We Live Upstairs Outfit Planning
Outfit planning. The shirt knot will be ever present this weekend, I think.

Well, here we are at the weekend! Matt's parents were supposed to be making the trek up here for a weekend visit, but due to quite unfortunate circumstances, Matt needs to be in Cape Girardeau this weekend. Thus, we shall be making the trip to our old stompin' grounds this evening. Hopefully, we'll be able to make it to some of our favorite spots.

What do you all have planned this weekend? GIVE A GIRL SOME DEETS : )

I love the peplum!

Took this lil number home after thrifting with Ashley this past weekend (click over and wish her a happy birthday!). She's the one who found it, then handed it over to me! How sweet! I'm completely smitten with the peplum aspect, and the polka dots are just icing, really. Thanks for the sweet find, lady!

Remember the big purchase I said I couldn't wait to share? Well, barring any unforeseen b.s., this baby will be waiting for me after work today:

I'm so excited I could pee. But that's not saying much, considering how much water I drink.
Until next time! : )

EDIT: Amy from Vanagon Champion was so sweet to feature me on her $5 Thrifty Thursday segment today! Go check out my find and say hello to her! She and her blog are both pretty spectacular.

Nadinoo

I only just found about about Nadinoo through Maria's blog, and I am head over heels. Firstly, they hand-make all garments to the specifications of the wearer; that means print, fabric, measurements, the works. So yes, the garments tend to come with a fairly pretty price tag, but I might be able to justify it with that type of service.
Secondly, the print a day series they are currently featuring is so dreamy. Seriously. These prints are the things dreams are made of. Unfortunately, since so few (read: typically one) of these fine specimens were created, they're mostly already sold. But keep your eye on this label! Great things in the future, I'm sure.

Patterned Dress: Target; Suspender Dress: Urban Renewal; Necklace: No idea; Booties: Target

I made better use of this dress, here, I'd say. I did not have to worry about it clinging to my nether-regions, though a prime concern did involve consistent re-adjustment of the bustier portion. IT NEVER ENDS, I say.

I really wanted to find a great bandeau to wear underneath this must-have from Urban Renewal, but alas, most of what I have to work with in my price range and within the confines of my current location lies at the mall, and sometimes cloth napkins from aerie just can't give a girl woman what she needs; know what I mean, jellybeans?

Until tomorrow, friends! I love you.

Disguised

Dress: The Kissing Tree Vintage; Vest: Thrifted; Shoes: tuto

This is Norwegian me (5'8"...ish) trying to pull off a petite dress; hence the title. What you see before you is the manifestation of years of coveting a lesser height without much success, clearly, through the vessel that is reclaimed/re-adjusted vintage. It's borderline (in propriety) at best, but I'm not above awkwardly scooch/wiggling into and out of a chair for the sake of some fantastic stripes.

Also, this thing has a giant, white, completely 80s collar which I tucked in on this, the day of the scooch sit. Hence the title again.
Do you guys have any items you're pretty iffy about, but can't seem to let go of? I MUST KNOW.

Going Away

In just a few short weeks, Matt will be leaving for Greece for an entire month. In honor of his departure, we will (hopefully) be hosting a croquet party complete with some finger foods and fancy drinks. The details have not quite been hammered out yet, but in the event that everything does go according to plan, and I had unlimited funds, my croquet attire would include the following:

Croquet

Now, don't get it twisted: I don't happen to have unlimited funds (especially since we made a hefty [exciting] purchase recently that will all but consume the next few paychecks...can't wait to share!), so I will not be wearing, well, any of this. I may try to come up with something similar, but we'll see.

And yes, I chose Lauren Moffatt fall for summertime, but I couldn't help myself. It's/she's perfect.

Oh, hello there; nice to meet you. We're Leah's new clog sandals- her first pair, to be exact. She'd been searching for us high + low for months, but to no avail. Finally, one fateful day, she located us at just the right price point, and now calls us her very own.
From what we can tell, she's head over heels for us, and plans on wearing us all too often this summer; she hopes you won't grow tired of seeing us. She actually plans on expanding her collection by adding fellow clog brethren to the family in various colors and shapes, so she'd like you to be prepared for that.
Once again, it was nice meeting you, and we'll be seeing you around. A lot.

That is all for today.
